Upcycling textiles on a BBC show.
For many years I worked at an international level for fast fashion companies.
My career took me all over the globe from Amsterdam to Bangladesh.
In 2023 I quit my fashion career to set up a sustainable upcycling fashion business as my mission is to pause the textile waste mountain. There is an endless supply of textile waste from unwanted clothing to discarded curtains even the charity shops have to send so much of their donated textiles to landfill.
I rescue the textile waste & repurpose, recycle into fabulous useful upcycled products.
In 2024 I was invited to be featured on the award winning BBC television program 'Make It At Market' series 3 hosted by Dominic Chinea from 'The Repair Shop'.
The program is aimed at finding creative people with a view to mentoring them and helping turn their vision in to viable businesses.
The entire experience lasted 8 weeks & I was paired with a mentor who set me many tasks to develop my business from improving my social media skills to creating digital patterns & growing a community to join the mission to reduce textile waste… it was an incredible intense adventure which I completed successfully and the filming was so much fun even though there was a downpour of torrential rain during the filming.
After many years of hesitation I am now on the path to growing my sustainable business into a shared mission to upcycle textile waste.
